INDEPENDENCE!!
This word sounds so ordinary, like wats d big deal about it.. we are an independent country since 1947, we are educated, we are free to do whatever it feels like .. but ask this question to a mother of two kids or for that matter even a single child will do and you will realise its value ! For us , our whole life revolves around them.. you are dependent on their mood , their schedules all the time! I so wish to have my little own sweet quality time but just the thought of it makes my younger one realise that something is fishy, why is Mumma looking so relaxed and then,, bang! Something has to happen which will take away that moment of peace from me..
Of course you will have your responsibilities as a mother , a wife , a daughter in law , an individual which you will have to fulfil come what may and no one is asking you to run away from them. But what I feel is sometimes, you are so burdened with taking care of everything that you forget bout yourself.. you become so dependent on everyone’s routine and habits and responsibilities that eventually everyone becomes dependent on you ! So many times, you feel to leave everything behind and have a day off from the daily chores or go on a solo trip ( I know that’s too much to ask for ) but again , either it’s not feasible as you are bound by your duties and often you ain’t that bold . Somewhere deep down the corner of your heart , you will have the guilt pangs that how could you do this with your loved ones, how can you enjoy alone? Especially We girls are so emotionally dependent on everyone, as always it’s “tumhari khushi me meri khushi hai” .. I think it’s ok to be a bit selfish at times and do what makes you happy . Atleast we deserve it sometime! And we all love our kids to the core.. I mean you just can’t imagine your life without them or your family, but a little ME time won’t ever harm you..
People would say, ghar hi to sambhalna hai, what’s the big deal ? But believe me, it’s not simple either ! When I see my mother , I feel she has almost spent her whole life in taking care of everyone and everything! Often we are so busy in taking care of everyone, that we tend to forget that we need to take care of ourselves too! I think no matter how busy we are, atleast we can find half n hour for ourselves.. That ME time is so so important.. when you don’t need anyone , not even your spouse and definitely not kids .. be it Music, dance , reading a book, going for a walk or gym or whatever that comforts you!
But at the end of the day, no matter how much gyaan I pelofy, or become a feminist, we can’t be totally independent! Our life, mood , happiness, will depend on the people around us , which is pretty natural and rather that’s the way it should be, but we need to make sure that they don’t overpower our emotions and feelings! !
P.s. as I was jus about to finish the gyaan , and was to leave for a cuppa coffee with my friends, my lil 2 year old has reached the almirah and has spilled Fevicol all over the floor and herself!!! Arrgghhhh!!
A “quality" time shall now be spent indeed! 😓😓
